Thomas E. Kolena, CPA/ABV/CFF
Tom Kolena has been a partner at Mira + Kolena since November 1996. Tom has over thirty years of experience in accounting, audit and consulting services to closely-held, publicly-held and not-for-profit organizations in a wide variety of industries, including companies in the manufacturing, retailing, distributing, service, financial institution and construction industries. Some of the consulting projects include, among other things, business valuations, forensic accounting, litigation assistance, internal control studies, forecasts and projections and due diligence on potential acquisition candidates.
Tom has twenty-seven years of experience with national and local accounting firms and three years experience as a Chief Financial Officer of a construction company. Tom’s consulting focus is with business valuations, litigation support and forensic accounting related to income/gift/estate situations, fraud investigations, financial statement reporting and improprieties, intellectual property transactions, partner/shareholder disputes, business interruption claims and commercial damage/economic loss matters. Tom has provided expert witness testimony in the court room, mediation and arbitration situations.
Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting while graduating cum laude from Bowling Green State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has earned the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designations from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Tom is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Society of Certified Public Accuntants, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Tom is active in the community and has served on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee of The Employer’s Association and Finance Committee of Central Catholic High School.
